In a strategic move to enhance mass communication capabilities and migrate to a vended cloud-based solution, the transition from the Maestro/ListServ email communication system to the Emma mass emailing application has been successfully completed.
Kudos to the Emma project team, which includes Janet Deyarmin, IT Project Managers III; Matt Gerst, Lead Communications Specialist; Michele Harashe, Application Lead; Julie Martin, IT Learning and Development Specialist, and Melinda Nadler, Business Analyst III, as well as the steering committee, WashU IT Shared Infrastructure, and others who helped facilitate the transition to a more modern solution.
With all Maestro customers now utilizing alternative platforms and ListServ functions effectively managed by new solutions, the Maestro servers were shut down on May 5, marking the final milestone in the system’s retirement process.
The transition ensures seamless communication while modernizing operations. The final retirement of the Maestro server will take place approximately two weeks after its decommissioning. The migration underscores WashU IT’s commitment to improved efficiency and streamlined communication technologies.
The number of mass emailing customers served has grown significantly across the university community. In Maestro, there were 78 active groups and 354 customers. Since Emma’s implementation, numbers have surged to 343 sub-accounts (the equivalent to active groups) and 913 customers, reflecting a 158% increase in customer growth rate.
