Announcing New WashU IT Templates and Branding Resources

We are excited to share new, visually striking, and streamlined WashU IT templates. These resources are now available for everyone within our organization to use. Whether you are looking to create a presentation, report, meeting agenda, or letter, there is a template for that.

The new templates are an initiative of the WashU IT Brand Alignment Committee, which consists of representatives from IT’s Organizational Change Management, the Office of the Chief Information Officer Communications teams, and Shared Infrastructure. This group works together to ensure WashU IT’s rebranding efforts align with the university’s best practices and guidelines.

For these templates, the Organizational Change Management and OCIO Communications teams worked closely with the University Marketing and Communications team to create the newly branded materials. Lead Communications Specialist Matt Gerst led the charge, designing the new materials and incorporating input from members of WashU IT’s Communications Collaboration group, which consists of communications professionals from across WashU IT.

Launch of New Visual Identity

In August 2024, Washington University in St. Louis unveiled a refreshed visual identity as part of an enhanced effort to communicate the university’s significant contributions in education, research, and patient care to both internal and external audiences. This update included a new university logo, an updated website, and the adoption of the widely used and affectionate nickname “WashU.” The primary goal of this initiative is to raise awareness about WashU and to share the stories of the people and programs that make our university world-class and distinctive.

What to Expect from the New Templates

With the updated branding, a variety of new templates have been designed to ensure consistency and professionalism in all university communications, including:

  • PowerPoint Templates: Enhance your presentations with university-approved themes, fonts, and color schemes that reflect WashU’s new visual identity.
  • Reports and Meeting Agendas: Create comprehensive and cohesive reports and meeting agendas that align with the updated branding standards.
  • Letterheads: Utilize customizable letterhead templates featuring the new university logo and branding elements.

Accessing the New Templates

All the new templates and branding materials are available on our WashU IT Staff Space page. Log in with your university credentials, navigate to the “Templates” section, and download the templates you need. To get started quickly in PowerPoint, apply a template to an existing presentation. Further, detailed guidelines and best practices will soon be available to help you effectively utilize these resources.
