Answers to questions about Zoom’s AI Companion and security

There have been many questions about Zoom’s AI Companion and the security of the transcriptions it creates, as well as the content Zoom uses to train its AI model. Check out a new knowledge base article (KBA) offering a brief overview of the AI Companion tool and WashU’s default settings.

“Zoom is always adding and changing things,” said Boyd Pickup, Director of Audio Visual, Media Services. “So, we are trying to make sure to keep close contact with Zoom to make sure we are staying coordinated, secure, and accessible.”

AI Companion has now been integrated into nearly every tool suite of Zoom. The KBA covers AI Companion in Zoom meetings and recordings, listing what each AI Companion setting does and the default settings. For those who are interested in the potential areas of unintended sharing of AI content to participants, these areas are accented in red within the article.

For a complete description of the Zoom AI tool suite, there is a comprehensive guide on Zoom’s website.
