Message from the CIO: Welcoming a new year to make an impact

Last week, WashU unveiled a new brand. This rebrand formally ties us to the identity we have embraced for quite some time. We are WashU; and we in IT are WashU IT. The purpose of the university rebrand is to tell the amazing stories of students, faculty, staff, and alumni far and wide. We have begun doing that through WashU IT during our All Hands meetings, sharing what we refer to as ImpacT Stories, as well as Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee updates. We will continue doing that throughout the year as a way to acknowledge the significant contributions all of you make each day, and to hear from our customers the value that adds to their lives.

Next week at the IT All Hands meeting, the senior leadership team and I will discuss our shared FY25 goals that are guiding all our steps to success. By the end of the presentation, I hope you will see yourselves even more clearly within those goals. You are part of an important plan through the university’s Here and Next and WashU IT’s ImpacT strategic plans. These plans call on us to support our campus community in its efforts to innovate and inspire. We are the trusted strategic partner, working in concert with our distributed IT colleagues to secure and protect information.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful fall semester. It is because of you that our campus sees the value we add to each project we touch. It is because of you and your positive interactions with students, faculty, staff, researchers, clinicians, alumni, our distributed IT partners, and our community stakeholders that our customers feel valued and appreciated, which is vital to the success of our institution.
