We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Student Data Program at Washington University in St. Louis!
This initiative, led by the WashU IT Data & Analytics team in collaboration with key university partners, is designed to bring student-related data from a variety of source systems into the WashU Data Warehouse, offering a comprehensive view of the student journey at WashU – from admissions to graduation, financial aid, campus life, and more.
The goal is to combine data from key systems to support operational, compliance, and strategic reporting. This effort will improve access to university data for business analysis and strategic insights that support informed decision-making and address existing data gaps.
While the Student Data Program is closely aligned with the Student Sunrise (Workday Student) program, it is uniquely separate in its mission. Unlike Student Sunrise, which focuses on replacing the Student Information System (SIS) and enhancing student services, the Student Data Program focuses on bringing student-related data into the Data Warehouse. Initial targeted data areas include Workday Student, Admissions, Financial Aid, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and historical SIS data.
“What makes this initiative truly exciting is the partnership between IT and the campus community, including schools, Office of University Registrar, and Student Sunrise Teams stakeholders to ensure our activities align with their needs and desired outcomes. This coordination, along with the foundational step of bringing student-related data into the Warehouse, will empower the university to continuously expand the understanding of the student journey and improve the overall student experience,” says Todd Zimmermann, Program Director.
