Hello everyone! My name is Gary Sonnenberg, and I am the new Operations Supervisor for the End User Services/Service Desk team. I am excited to join the WashU community and bring years of operational excellence to the team. I look forward to the impact that our team will make this year and into the future!
I came from being the Director of Operations with the health and wellness company The Green Dragon LLC, where I assisted in creating a successful business model across two brick-and-mortar retail locations and an e-commerce hub/warehouse. I created processes and procedures that enabled them to take their small St.Louis business and flourish into a larger and established mid-sized business.
Prior to this, I worked in a Senior Management role for FedEx Office. During my time with FedEx, I was known as one of the go-to managers who could be a resource to all levels of the organization. I worked closely with many teams such as the Field Technology, info-sec, security, inventory management, and District/Regional operational support to keep my knowledge and support level top tier.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three beautiful children. We have our hands full with a 12-year-old daughter, 4-year-old son, and 1-year old daughter. I like to offer anyone looking into having children a chance to hang out with them for a day so they can see a range of baby, toddler, and tween! We enjoy being outdoors and being foodies. Most recently over Father’s Day weekend I took the opportunity to fire up the smoker and feed 20 or so of our friends and family. Seeing everyone having a wonderful time and enjoying great food gives me a solid sense of joy and happiness!
Joining the WashU community is also an accomplishment that means a lot to our family. My youngest daughter spent 4 weeks in the NICU of Children’s Hospital due to feeding issues, while WashU doctors and nurses worked around the clock to ensure the sustainability and health of my daughter. We continue our journey with my littlest as she grows and WashU physicians are helping along the way. It makes joining the team extra special to me!
