Effective February 17, 2025: Some Older Apple Devices will not support Duo 2FA Authentication

Cisco, our Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) vendor, has announced that the Duo Mobile App will not function on Apple devices running iOS 15 or below effective February 17, 2025.

Customers who have used an Apple mobile device which will either need to be updated or replaced have received email notifications with specific instructions.

Supported Devices

The below devices must be upgraded to iOS 16 or higher by February 17 to support the Duo Mobile App.

  • iPhone 8 or higher
  • iPad 5th Generation or higher
  • iPad Air 3rd Generation or higher
  • iPad Pro

Unsupported Devices

The below devices cannot be upgraded to iOS 16 and cannot be used for Duo 2FA after February 17.

  • iPhone 7 or lower
  • iPad 4th Generation or lower
  • iPad Air 2rd Generation or lower
  • iPod touch devices

Please utilize an alternate device to authenticate with the Duo Mobile App.

If you do not have a supported device please submit an Exception Request to utilize alternate Two-Factor Authentication methods.

How to Manage Duo 2FA Authorized Mobile Devices

In order to limit security vulnerabilities please use the instructions below to manage what devices are authorized to process Duo Two-Factor Authentications.

  • Navigate to https://myaccess.wustl.edu/Account/Manage2FA
  • Select the Manage Enrollment button
    • Note – you must follow the instructions on the page to manage your devices
    • Do NOT authenticate, rather select Other Options, then select Manage devices
  • Remove devices you no longer use for Duo from the list
