Meet the Student Summer Techs at STS and Their Exciting Summer Projects

This summer, the Student Technology Services (STS) team is excited to introduce three exceptional summer student techs: Fortuna Kadima, Matthew Rao, and Aaron Hubhachen. Each brings unique skills and passions to the table, working on innovative projects that highlight their technology related interests and enhance the tech experience for the campus community.

Fortuna Kadima, a Computer Science and Finance major who joined the STS team in May 2023 is continuing his journey with STS as a summer tech this year. He has wide technology interests including gaming and aviation. This summer, he will be working on developing digital footprint software. This tool will allow students to search and monitor their digital footprint using just their names. By making it easier to track online presence, Fortuna’s project aims to empower students to manage their digital identities proactively and securely.

Another summer tech STS is excited to have is Matthew Rao who brings a diverse academic background in Neuroscience, Computer Science, and Math. He started working for STS in February 2024 and is interested in coding and data science. Matthew aspires to work on data-driven solutions to enhance student services. His summer project involves implementing a feedback system for WashU students who have used STS services. This system will collect and analyze student feedback to identify strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring that STS continues to meet the evolving needs of the campus community.

Last summer tech this year is Aaron Hubhachen, a Computer Science major with a minor in Entrepreneurship. He began his journey with STS in Spring 2024. Passionate about big data, machine learning, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, Aaron is hoping to leverage his knowledge to create an AI chatbot. This innovative tool will be designed to assist students with tech-related queries, providing quick and accurate responses. By automating support, Aaron’s project will enhance the efficiency of STS, making tech help more accessible and responsive for all students.

These student techs are not only exploring their technology interests, but also making significant contributions to STS and thus the broader campus community. Keep an eye out for their exciting developments as they continue to innovate and improve the technological landscape at WashU.
