Washington University in St. Louis uses a print management system called PaperCut to allow students to print from their own laptops to locations across campus. PaperCut Mobility Printing simplifies printing from bring your own device (BYOD) and other end-user managed devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops. WashU users can easily find and set up printers independently, regardless of their operating system or printer brand. The Mobility Printing service supports iOS, Windows, macOS, and Android devices for secure network printing.
What is PaperCut Mobility Printing?
PaperCut is the system through which Students, Faculty, and Staff print at PaperCut enabled print stations on WashU Campuses.
PaperCut print stations allow users with personal devices (non-managed computers and mobile devices) to print their documents via email and web printing. Through PaperCut mobility print, they can use the printing function of their devices (ex. File Menu -> Print) to print directly to PaperCut enabled workstations, skipping the web print and email to print steps.
How to Access PaperCut Mobility Printing:
WashU users can download Mobile Print by going to myprinting.wustl.edu (VPN required off campus). Once downloaded they will have a new “printer” they can select via their device’s print dialogue box named “WashU – BYOD print” (name selected in conjunction with Student Tech Services (STS). When they print using the printer selected, their print job will be waiting for them at any PaperCut enabled printer, just like it is for individuals using Managed computers.
