Badgemaster is being refactored in 2024 as part of the Student Sunrise project to change source of student data. It is an IT system used by the Danforth Card Office to manage student photos and create Danforth ID card. Other systems that processes card swipes or consume student photos likely receive data from Badgemaster and will need to be modified to transition to the new processes.
What is BadgeMaster?
- A table in the SISDB Student_Info database that is used.
- By the Danforth Card Office systems to create ID Cards.
- Note: The Medical School has a separate card system that does NOT use BadgeMaster. But WUSM badge data is loaded into BadgeMaster.
- To provision downstream systems that process card swipes.
- To manage some aspects of provisioning photo data.
2. The generic name for a collection of database objects and processes in IdM and SIS that provision and manage the data in the BadgeMaster table.
Workday Sunrise Impacts on BadgeMaster
- Workday will become the System of Record for student data in 2025.
- Impact: Need to replace SIS with WD as source for Student Data in 2023.
- Impact: Need to refactor student provisioning to align to WD standards.
2. SISDB Server will be retired in 2026.
- Impact: Need to relocate BadgeMaster core objects and rearchitect its data sources, Card Office systems, photo systems, and data consumers.
3. IDM BM processes use tightly couple interactions with SISDB objects via a linked server.
- Impact: Need to rearchitect IdM based processes
4. After Sunrise Milestone #2 (March 2025) new students will be loaded into Workday, NOT into SIS.
- Impact: Critical deadline for BadgeMaster replacement is Sunrise Milestone #2
Impacts of BadgeMaster Changes
- New access methods for badging data and student photos in Mulesoft will be created in early 2024.
- Systems that consume BadgeMaster data or use student photos should transition to new processes in 2024.
- PhysOps will provide an integration to Workday for Student Photos.
Next Steps
- Determine if you are using BadgeMaster data (BM Card ID and the Lost Card Code).
- Does your application support card swipes?
- Does your system display student photo data?
- Contact Katy Zwick or Jason Clevenger for follow-up.
If your application is using card swipes (Danforth) or displaying student photos you may need to redo your integrations.
