More than 350 employees gathered last week for the annual Winter Celebration at Top Golf at Midtown. CIO Jessie Minton thanked the team for its dedication and institutional impact throughout the year. Donations were collected on-site for the annual United Way 100 Neediest Cases campaign. While the campaign is coming to a close, there are still opportunities to donate to area families in need or participate in community engagement events. Items must be turned in by the end of the day Thursday to Senior Customer Relationship Manager Thomas Walker in The Hub at 4480.

Each year, WashU IT participates in the United Way’s 100 Neediest Cases campaign to help make the lives of some families in need brighter. The outpouring of support from WashU IT is always inspirational. This year we identified six families who could benefit from some holiday cheer. Together, we are working to ensure that they receive gifts and a special holiday meal, while also taking part in a leadership challenge.
WashU IT was divided into two teams, both led by senior leaders. Each team adopted three families. Each of the six families submitted a list of items they need, as well as some “wish list” items. A Bonus Family also was adopted. Anyone who would like to help the additional family is encouraged to do so.
To date, the competition is a close one with Team Blizzard at 239 points and Team Glitter at 240 points! The team with the most points wins the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) award.
There is still time to give and for teams to earn engagement points to factor into the competition.
Below are ways you can still help. Links are available on the landing page.
- Gifts from the families’ wish lists can be dropped off until Thursday at 4480 Clayton. If unable to make it to 4480 by Thursday, please contact Sarah Grantham.
- Donate to families’ rent and utilities through the United Way.
- To earn engagement points, volunteer to help wrap gifts from 12-3 pm Monday, Dec. 16 in the Training Room at 4480 Clayton.
Be sure to report engagement opportunities on the engagement form, whether they were promoted by WashU IT or not.
