WashU IT’s Digital Transformation Team, led by Michelle Fuertes, Executive Director of IT Digital Transformation, and with Mahogany Moore, IT DT’s Business Analyst II, recently hosted the Microsoft and WashU Copilot Studio & Agent Creation Workshop, bringing together IT colleagues and Optimization Initiative (OI) business partners for a collaborative, innovative, and hands-on learning experience.

Designed around learning by doing, the workshop enabled participants to explore Microsoft Copilot Studio while building AI agents together, sharing ideas, experimenting with real-world use cases, and strengthening cross-team connections. Teams, which included business owners from Arts & Sciences, Student Services, University Advancement, University Services, and the WashU School of Medicine (Physical Therapy), worked side-by-side with members of WashU IT to design agents aligned to WashU OI initiatives, reinforcing a culture of innovation, partnership, and shared problem-solving across the university.
The workshop was supported by WashU IT partners, including Josh Edwards, Senior Director of Enterprise Systems & Solutions, and Janet Deyarmin, IT Project Manager III, sponsored by Microsoft’s Andre Mitchelle, and led by Brian Knight, Founder of Pragmatic Works. Together, the session marked another milestone in WashU IT’s commitment to learning, building, and innovating together through responsible AI adoption.
