Microsoft has announced the retirement of Skype for Business in 2021. All Skype for Business functionality has been replicated and expanded upon in Teams, Microsoft’s Office 365 collaboration application.
Washington University Information Technology will retire Skype for Business on January 19, 2021, and is pleased to announce that Microsoft Teams is already available for you to use.
The Microsoft Teams functions which replace Skype for Business functionality include, but are not limited to:
One-to-one and group chatScheduled and ad-hoc video calls withScreensharingVirtual collaborative whiteboardsAbility to record the call’s audio and videoand File sharing with simultaneous collaborative editing.
Get started now with Microsoft Teams. Available online through Office 365, as a Desktop application (preferred as it provides full functionality), and as a mobile app for both iOS and Android through the App Store and Google Play respectively.
