Roundtables renew WashU IT Service Excellence

WashU IT’s Service Management Office is launching a new monthly ITSM Roundtable series designed to strengthen service excellence across the university. A calendar invitation has already been shared; be sure to check your inbox and save the dates.

These monthly meetings will be held the fourth Friday of each month and will last 30 minutes. Each round table discussion will offer a different subject to help WashU IT team members and business units provide superior, efficient and effective service to WashU customers and stakeholders.

Topics and a sneak peek of content to be covered for the next quarter include:

April – ITSM at WashU
Join us for the first ITSM Roundtable session, your starting point for understanding how IT Service Management (ITSM) connects to the work you do every day at WashU.

This kickoff session goes beyond definitions. You’ll gain a clear, practical view of how ITSM supports service delivery across the university, and why it’s relevant to every role within WashU IT. Whether you’re directly involved in service processes or supporting them behind the scenes, ITSM plays a part in how we deliver consistent, valued experiences.

You’ll also get a preview of what’s ahead in the Roundtable series, including how you can participate, share insights, and get value from future discussions.

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • What ITSM looks like in the WashU environment
  • How ITSM impacts your day-to-day work
  • Ways to engage with upcoming sessions and apply what you learn

Come ready to connect, learn, and see how ITSM helps us work smarter—together.

May – Change Enablement at WashU
The May session will focus on Change Enablement at WashU, with an emphasis on shared understanding rather than process deep dives. Attendees will hear how Change Enablement is intended to work in our environment, the goals it supports, and how it connects to service stability, risk reduction, and collaboration across IT. Time will be reserved to highlight common themes, expectations, and what good change practices look like at WashU.

June – Knowledge Management at WashU
The June Roundtable will introduce Knowledge Management at WashU and provide an overview of the Knowledge Management Operating Model project. Participants can expect to learn why knowledge is a critical enabler of effective IT services, how knowledge will be approached and governed going forward, and how this work supports consistency, efficiency, and staff enablement. The session will also touch on what teams can expect as the operating model continues to mature.

The ITSM team looks forward to everyone’s participation and welcomes suggestions for future topics of interest. The first Roundtable will be Friday, April 24 from 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. CST.
