On Saturday, April 23rd, 2022, Karen Leingang was elected and installed as Toastmasters International’s District 8 Director during the annual District 8 Spring Conference.
As the District Director, Karen will be responsible for directly overseeing and managing the District’s day-to-day operations, finances, and human resources. District 8 of Toastmasters International consists of 84 clubs that are in parts of Missouri and Illinois.
Karen will have a team of District leaders to help her fulfill these responsibilities. Karen’s role will include the empowerment of her District leadership team to work together toward the District mission, while supporting each team member in their leadership development.
Karen’s Toastmaster journey that brought her to this point includes her serving as Club President for the Toast of WU Toastmasters Club as well as holding roles at the District level to include Program Quality Director, Division Director and Area Director. She is currently an active member of Toast of WU, where she is serving as Vice President of Education for the 2021-2022 club year. Karen starts her new role on July 1, 2022 for the 2022-2023 Toastmasters club year.
Toastmasters is an organization designed to improve one’s skill in the great art of public speaking, as well as leadership. Their proven approach provides help and insight in both the preparation and delivery of spoken information. WUSTL Speaks is comprised of WashU staff, graduate students, faculty, and alumni looking to improve their skills and comfort in this arena.
