Strengthening IT services through central HR collaboration

Central HR has announced an enhanced service model beginning with the Danforth Campus and CFU units. Focused on supporting WashU employees in both their personal and professional lives, this transformation promises to offer a solution-oriented experience and sustain service levels through and beyond the transition. The larger effort will also allow for improved reporting capabilities and compliance internally, as well as with regulatory agencies.

As part of this strategic initiative, Melissa Harting, HR business partner, transitioned to the central HR team. This move was effective March 2. In her new role, she will continue to represent WashU IT as a strategic partner and liaison between HR and IT. This change not only aims to streamline HR processes within WashU IT but also opens new avenues for career development for the existing HR staff. Detailed information regarding the enhanced HR model was shared with the community in early March

WashU IT is encouraged to congratulate Harting on this exciting opportunity. Her transition symbolizes a commitment to improved collaboration and mutual trust between IT and Central HR.

With support from executive leaders, this initiative aims to reduce redundancies, improve reporting capabilities and ensure compliance with both internal and regulatory standards. The enhanced model is widely regarded as a best practice in higher education, and either is being or has been adopted by many peer institutions.

IT leaders are supportive and trust this transformation will uphold current service standards with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. This partnership is anticipated to benefit WashU IT through both administrative efficiency and employee support. Visit HR4U.washu.edu for additional information.
