Recognized as one of 12 people who received more than one nomination in 2024 as a Person of ImpacT, Kevin Peppers, the Application Developer Lead on Enterprise Systems and Solutions (ESS) ServiceNow Delivery team, was honored for his commitment to supporting his colleagues and enhancing the efficiency of WashU IT projects. Individuals honored as a Person of ImpacT personify the IT Strategic Plan, ImpacT, through the significant and positive influence they have on the people, the institution, and the community.
As an esteemed leader in the IT department, Peppers has consistently demonstrated his ability to go above and beyond in his duties. His nominators have spoken highly of his dedication and invaluable contributions.
Jerri Gaither, IT Service Management Analyst I, praised Peppers, noting in her nomination of him, “I can’t say enough good things about Kevin. He’s always willing to help, answer questions, support projects, and always goes the extra mile to ensure initiatives are thoroughly thought out and planned, and the work contributed is accurate.”
Another nominator, Troy Weatherburn, the Senior Application Architect Lead on the ESS Platforms and Operations team, highlighted Peppers’ remarkable efforts, adding, “Kevin joined (me) one week before the two senior ServiceNow Administrators left WashU. We both had to dig in to keep up learning how to maintain the ServiceNow platform.”
Weatherburn continued, “Kevin has gone above and beyond to support the ServiceNow platform. We are a long way from the days when Kevin and I maintained the system. The team has grown to 8, and Kevin has taken on more responsibilities as a mentor to the new team members and taken on one of the largest projects in ServiceNow that will help WashU IT align with the organization’s vision and goals (IT Asset Management). He is a great friend and family man who excels at the game of chess.”
About the honor, Peppers said he is grateful for being recognized by his peers, noting, “We only have a small swath of people that we meet while working at the university. To have my own co-workers nominate me fills me with a sense of value and appreciation.”
When asked what being a Person of ImpacT means to him, Peppers reflected on the importance of collaboration and breaking down silos for effective teamwork.
“It’s going to take the customers wanting to be less siloed for it to ever happen,” he said. “Finding that level of compromise is just really hard sometimes. But communication is key, and getting people to find common ground is an art.”
Peppers’ recognition as a Person of ImpacT underscores his exceptional ability to foster positive change within WashU IT, demonstrating the true essence of leadership and commitment.
Nominations for 2025 People of ImpacT are being gathered now through November 1.
