New Capabilities Coming to Microsoft Copilot in Word

Microsoft is rolling out enhanced functionality for Copilot in Word, designed to transform how users create and edit documents. These updates introduce a more conversational and iterative experience, allowing users to interact with Copilot more naturally and efficiently.

Starting in September 2025, Microsoft will begin a worldwide rollout of new features for Copilot in Word, with full availability expected by October 2025.

Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will gain access to expanded capabilities in Word, including:

  • Drafting new documents or sections using natural language prompts.
  • Rewriting or updating existing content for clarity, tone, or structure.
  • Reorganizing content into structured formats such as FAQs.
  • Reviewing and approving all changes to maintain full editorial control.

These enhancements represent a significant step forward in how users engage with productivity tools. By integrating AI-driven assistance directly into Word, Copilot helps reduce the time spent on manual writing and editing tasks. This is especially valuable for teams that produce high volumes of documentation, such as IT, communications, and support departments.
