Announcement
Effective September 19, 2024, faculty should NOT enter additional data into Interfolio’s CV Builder, aka Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) module.
- Faculty who have already entered their data into FAR can download their information into a Word or PDF document at any time.
- Please refer to the Interfolio – Exporting Your CV and Executive Summary Quick Guide for steps and screenshots.
Faculty should continue to use the Review, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) module for their annual reviews, appointments, promotions, tenure, and transfer of tracks.
- Faculty will upload a PDF version of their CVs and other documents (e.g. Executive Summary, Clinician Track Impact Report) for annual reviews, consistent with the current process used for appointments, promotions, tenure, and transfer of tracks.
Interfolio is a cloud-based software platform that offers academic institutions a range of services related to faculty hiring, promotion, tenure, and academic workflows. Interfolio is designed to streamline and simplify the often complex and paper-intensive processes involved in managing faculty personnel matters.
All FY25 annual reviews for WashU Medicine will be conducted through Interfolio.

About Interfolio
Interfolio provides various modules and tools to support universities and colleges in these areas:
- Promotion and Tenure: Universities use Interfolio to manage the promotion and tenure review process. It assists in collecting and organizing faculty members’ materials, managing deadlines, and facilitating the review and decision-making process. It can help institutions maintain transparency and accountability in these critical matters.
- Compliance and Accreditation: The platform helps universities ensure compliance with accreditation standards and provides tools for reporting and documentation.
- Faculty Evaluation and Review: The platform supports performance evaluation and review processes for faculty members. It can help institutions set goals, track progress, and document outcomes as part of ongoing faculty development efforts.

Accessing Interfolio
Who uses Interfolio: This application is used by WUSM Faculty, Case Managers, and Review Committees.
How to request access to Interfolio:
- Faculty are automatically provided access and can log in through One.WUSTL.
- Staff members who need access for case management and reporting should complete the Interfolio User Admin Request form in ServiceNow.

Training
The Interfolio project team wants to ensure you feel prepared to navigate Interfolio for all appointments, promotions, and annual review efforts alongside department/division heads and chairs. The project team is happy to provide department-specific trainings or review sessions. If this interests you, please contact the Interfolio project manager.
To add the training to your calendar, select “Add To Your Outlook Calendar” and select “Download” on the next screen in BOX. That’s all you need to do to register!
Faculty Refresher Trainings
This training is a refresher on the tasks faculty will complete in the Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) module for their annual review, appointment, promotion, tenure, or transfer of tracks.
These tasks consist of uploading a PDF of the faculty member’s CV and other supporting documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
- WashU Medicine decided to use Interfolio in response to receiving a citation from LCME related to a lack of consistent, documented annual reviews for faculty. After researching solutions to mitigate this concern, Interfolio was selected as the best-in-class option for systematically conducting and tracking the completion of faculty annual reviews. Given WashU Medicine’s citation, we are required to report back to LCME this summer (2024) on our progress toward addressing the issue.
- At the same time, the internal systems developed years ago to track appointments and promotions are becoming outdated and need a transition to a more modern platform. Interfolio meets this requirement.
- All faculty will upload a PDF of their CV, Executive Summary, and CTIR (If they are on the clinician track) for promotion, tenure, and track changes.
- No, effective September 19, 2024, FAR (CV builder) is no longer necessary for Annual Reviews. Faculty will attach a PDF of their CV to their Annual Reviews, consistent with the current process used for appointments, promotions, tenure, and transfer of tracks.
- Annual Reviews will be completed in Interfolio for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Annual Reviews for all faculty are important as a best practice and necessary to comply with LCME accreditation requirements.
- In early 2023, school leaders began working with WUIT to customize Interfolio for WashU Medicine. We developed the Interfolio CV template based on our existing WUSM CV, with specific adjustments to accommodate the new APGAR requirements (including the addition of the Executive Summary and moving many education activities into the CV in preparation for the retirement of the Clinician-Educator Portfolio and adoption of the new Clinician Track Impact Report).

- A core group of faculty and WUIT experts has been diligently testing all functions of Interfolio. We have provided extensive feedback to the vendor and have customized the program as much as possible for WashU Medicine. Some of our suggestions were easy to adopt – others are not feasible within the system as it currently stands.
