WashU IT Governance welcomes new project ideas and follows a structured process to evaluate and implement them.

To submit a new project idea, start by completing and submitting the Project Idea Request form in ServiceNow. This will initiate the Demand Management workflow, which includes the following phases and steps:
- Idea Phase – The goal is to capture the idea and validate with organizational leadership
- IT reviews idea and triages to IT team(s)
- Governance Groups identified
- Requestor presents an SBAR to the designated Governance Group
- Decision: Governance determines if idea is promoted to the demand phase
- Demand Phase – The goal is to understand, develop, and validate the solution
- If promoted, IT recommends solution and works with Requestor to develop a Project Proposal
- Requestor identifies funding source(s) and begins securing support
- Governance reviews the Project Proposal
- Decision: Governance determines if demand is promoted to a project and establishes prioritization
- Agreement is secured from funding source(s)
- Project Phase – The goal is to plan the work
- Project is reviewed and scheduled
