RADAR
What is RADAR?
The RADAR (Research Administrators Data and Reporting) system is an enterprise-wide application designed to streamline Departmental Administrators’ work in producing the National Institute of Health (NIH) Other Support Report.
Why use RADAR?
Are you creating the NIH Other Support report today manually, with use of a shadow system, or partially with a Cognos report?
RADAR will allow you to produce the NIH Other Support report more effectively, reducing repetitive efforts. DAs will have access to all records that their faculty are on, regardless of the prime department of the record.
RADAR Benefits
- Automate the creation of the NIH Other Support Report
- Reduce or eliminate duplicate data entry
- Streamline your work associated with funded research reporting
- Mitigate university data integrity risk in reporting to federal agencies
To produce the report, RADAR brings data from RADAR’s In-Kind Support Master and Project Master features, as well as integrating with RMS to load in the selected Researcher’s active and pending Proposals and Awards data and append WD PCA values to the Active Projects loaded.
While data comes into RADAR, no data from RADAR goes to other systems.
Key Features
- Data integration from RMS and Workday reducing the need to look up or rekey data from the source system.
- A place in the application to enter and store In-Kind Support for key personnel.
- Security aligned to view and update report details, listing all proposals and awards for your faculty, regardless of proposal’s primary department.
- Ability to edit imported information and save those changes for future Other Support reports.
- Generation of MS Word and PDF output in the NIH Other Support Report format.
- Workflow supporting coordinating review and approvals from Principal Investigators.
- Ability to track the workflow status when coordinating review and approvals from Principal Investigators.
How to Prepare
Because RADAR leverages data in RMS and Workday, it is important to make sure that Other Support information in RMS is completed and entered correctly. Updates can continuously be made in RMS PT. It is also important that the current Payroll Costing Allocation in Workday is correct.
