Customers can request the Document Imaging service when they have a need to replace physical paper files with an enterprise-class document imaging solution.

Washington University partners with a St. Louis based company; KnowledgeLake for its document imaging needs. With KnowledgeLake, Washington University departments and schools can store their paper or digital documents in cloud repositories and retrieve them later using metadata assigned to them either during a manual or automated process.

The Document Imaging service allows users to upload paper or digital documents to a SharePoint or Azure repository via KnowledgeLake. The document repository can then be accessed by authenticated staff or faculty. All documents have indexed data that can be searched via SharePoint for easy retrieval.

Requirements & Considerations

Users must have a computer, mobile phone or tablet with access to the internet. If a user is scanning paper documents they must be connected physically or by a network to a scanner. Additionally, users will need to have permissions to the KnowledgeLake Cloud application through their department or school.
