The Basic IT Bundle (Bit Bundle) includes the common technologies and routine desktop support that customers use on a daily basis. The Basic IT Bundle was developed as part of the Shared IT Services Program. The program is an effort to re-balance the IT delivery model at Washington University in St. Louis by developing and implementing common IT infrastructure and support.

The BIT Bundle is grouped into the following 3 Tiers (for complete descriptions of the tiers, please see the Service Level Expectation):
- Universal Service Tier
Service Center (Help Desk), Limited capability networking, WUSTL Key credentials and Email
- Independent User Service Tier
Includes all items in the Universal Tier and the following:
Cloud-based storage, Self-service, Full capability networking, Remote Access to University resources, Testing Lab, Cloud backup for computers.
- Fully Supported Tier
Includes all items in the Universal and Independent Tiers and the following:
User direct desk-side support and walk-up support services, Fully managed Windows and Macintosh platforms, Computer Inventory Tracking and Lifecycle management, End user technology integration, Managed network printing, Loaner Equipment and Managed Individual/Department File Storage.
Includes the following items for Washington University IT customers:
Installation of user workstations, fully managed Windows platforms, automated imaging process, centrally administered configuration management, anti-virus and operating system patching, desktop and laptop hardware repair, software troubleshooting and repair, network connectivity configuration and support for Mac hardware and software.
