AI Update, Service Portfolio news, effective goal setting are topics for April IT All Hands meeting

An update on WashU IT’s AI efforts, the latest on the Service Portfolio initiative and effective goal setting are the topics of the next IT All Hands meeting, which will take place from 3-4 p.m. CDT Wednesday, April 15.

Along with these information-rich presentations, employees will be recognized for service milestones and important, timely updates will be shared. The meeting will kick off with a welcome from Vice Chancellor for Technology and Chief Information Officer Jessie Minton. Minton will share some organizational updates and recognize employees for milestones.

Greg Hart, Melinda Schmidt and Michelle Fuertes will present an AI Update, sharing information about the WashU IT AI literacy program pilot, including how feedback from the pilot inspired the way content was shaped and enhanced for rollout to WashU staff. The team will also highlight other exciting AI initiatives across campus and discuss what lies ahead at the university.

Next, Michelle Stirnemann, Senior Director of the End User Experience, will share an update on the Service Portfolio, one of our four key Operating Model initiatives.

As a reminder, the Operating Model helps align how we work across IT with the university’s strategic goals—so we can deliver better services and a stronger customer experience.

The Service Portfolio initiative focuses on creating a standardized view of IT services, making it easier for both IT and business teams to understand what we offer and how to engage with us.

Right now, teams are documenting service definitions using the ServiceNow Service Builder tool. Looking ahead, we’ll continue partnering with service owners to refine these definitions and ensure they align with institutional policies and best practices.

The meeting will also feature a session on Smart and Effective Goal Setting, led by Melissa Harting. This segment will focus on practical strategies for setting clear, achievable goals that support both individual growth and organizational priorities.

Minton will close the meeting with final remark. Attendance at these monthly meetings is strongly encouraged. An attendance drawing for Cardinals tickets and a $50 credit toward one item at the Danforth Campus Store will be held after the meeting, with the winners to be announced in the IT @ WashU Teams Channel.
