Shared IT Services Closes in on 20,000 Workstations Migrated

The Shared IT Services (SITS) program continues to move forward. Unit migrations to SITS remains a top priority of the Office of the Chief Information Officer and Vice Chancellor of IT at Washington University in St. Louis. In their latest milestone, the SITS project recently surpassed 19,500 workstations migrated to the new modern technology environment.

Where is SITS currently?
SITS recently completed several units, including Cell Biology, Human Resources, and the School of Law. In addition to planning several small unit migrations on Danforth and Medical School Campuses, SITS has entered the discovery phase with three Arts and Sciences units: Administration, University College and the Department of Humanities. In this phase, a thorough unit analysis is performed to help plan and prepare for their specific migration needs. You can see what kind of data is gathered during the discovery phase here.

Where is SITS next?
SITS will enter the long-awaited migration phase for Arts and Sciences on the Danforth Campus. Arts & Sciences employs more than 1,000 faculty and staff, making it the University’s largest group on the Danforth Campus. Arts and Sciences currently house 24 departments, 8 research centers, and 12 programs. SITS will strategically plan the migration of the Department of Arts and Sciences in 5 key areas; Administration, University College, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
