The Shared IT Services (SITS) program continues to move forward. Unit migrations to SITS remains a top priority of the Office of the Chief Information Officer and Vice Chancellor of IT at Washington University in St. Louis.
SITS is working diligently on workstation migrations through a number of units on different campuses across the university. SITS is currently migrating the Becker Medical Library, Cell Biology, Center for Clinical Studies, Radiology, and Radiation Oncology on the Medical School campus. On the Danforth campus, teams are migrating the Law School and Human Resources. The SITS small unit team is currently transitioning the Human Research Protection Office (HRPO).
In November 2019, SITS announced they will be entering WashU Arts and Sciences to begin their initial discovery. In this phase, a unit’s data is analyzed to help plan and prepare for their migration needs. You can see what kind of data is gathered during discovery here. Arts & Sciences employs more than 1,000 faculty and staff, making it the University’s largest group on the Danforth Campus. Arts and Sciences currently house 24 departments, 8 research centers, and 12 programs.
SITS is currently distributing post-migration surveys to our units that have completed their migrations. The surveys are distributed 7 days after a unit has migrated to SITS. These user surveys give the customer the opportunity to follow up with SITS for outstanding issues or concerns, but also a chance to provide feedback on their recent workstation migration to SITS. We are gaining valuable information on our current relationships with our customers and how to better serve their needs going forward. Since October 2018, the SITS communication team has distributed over 5,800 surveys to migrated users.
