Vice Chancellor Carter Talks ‘Why Seekers’ At Speaker Series

The IT@WashU Leadership Committee welcomed Vice Chancellor for Operations and Technology Transfer Dedric Carter as the featured speaker at the recent Lessons in Leadership Speaker Series event

Dr. Carter’s presentation, Becoming Better: Fostering a Mindset for Growth, Equity/Efficacy, And Resiliency, challenged the audience to become ‘Why Seekers’ and to evolve through curiosity. He shared his experiences as the Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the Director at the US National Science Foundation (NSF) as well as his research expeditions to Antarctica. The presentation concluded with Dr. Carter encouraging the audience to fail fast and recover, face their fears head on, and to never stop asking why.

The next event in the speaker series is September 10 and features Benjamin Ola. Akande, Ph.D., Senior Adviser to the Chancellor and Director of the Africa Initiative – Washington University in St. Louis.
