On May 30, Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration Henry Webber, on behalf of Washington University leadership, announced that Executive Director of Shared Infrastructure Ed Welker will serve as interim CIO upon Vice Chancellor and CIO John Gohsman’s departure.
Webber noted that university leadership reached the decision after many in the IT organization shared their perspectives on what the university should look for in a new CIO and what kind of leadership was needed during the transition.
He noted that Ed is, “clearly an accomplished IT leader, highly respected by his colleagues both inside and outside our IT organization.”
During this transition period, Welker will have the full authority and responsibilities of the CIO for Washington University. He will directly supervise all of the IT leaders in the organization except for Scott Taylor (who will directly report to Webber). His new role starts June 11, 2018.
