January 29 – Mail Relay Services Change

On January 29, DNS open and restricted relay names are moving to new IP addresses.

If you manage a computer application or networked device (e.g., scanner, printer, web application) that sends emails to mail.wustl.edu or smcpamela.wustl.edu, test a connection to mailrelay.wustl.edu.  If the application or device sends emails to wubroadcast.wustl.edu, test a connection to rsmtp.wustl.edu.  Perform these tests prior to the scheduled maintenance on January 29 in order to ensure there will not be issues as a result of the change.

Please note that the DNS names for mail.wustl.edu, smcpamela.wustl.edu, and wubroadcast.wustl.edu are not being retired.  They will continue to function, although they will resolve to different IP addresses after the change.

If you have questions or are unable to connect, please email us.

We appreciate your patience as we enhance our services.
