WashU IT’s Network Engineering team is working with WUPD to set up infrastructure at a new police substation near the Delmar Loop MetroLink station. The substation is being built by WashU in a building owned by the university, but will be shared with city and county officers.
WashU IT Network Engineering was contacted by WUPD to help manage the infrastructure buildout for the substation located at 5977 Delmar Boulevard. Their role was to identify cabling, voice, and network requirements needed to enable WUPD to use technology to support the university. As part of this process, they worked with two of their preferred vendors and coordinated the installation of these services with a go live date of June 8th.
The station is expected to open early July 2017, and will be serviced by approximately 75 officers from St. Louis city and county forces in addition to WUPD’s Neighborhood Services Bureau. WUPD and university leadership want the substation to reinforce to the community the university’s commitment to the safety and security of MetroLink.
